I went to high school with her mom. I have watched her grow up and have her successes and I even got to make her a rope can. I haven’t been a personal friend, but I have watched her for a long time.
The impressive part of Mesa is her work ethic and dedication in a such a young lady. She has had great successes and many wins, but those haven’t been handed out like participation trophies. Rodeo and horse events are still very much like toothpaste. You are not going to get more out than you put into it and probably a little less.
Mesa and her successes came to mind on the heels of the Rocker Steiner at the NFR. Yes he is crazy talented but he has a skewed vision of what is appropriate, acceptable and has forgotten that there are younger littles looking up to him and he is not leaving a very good impression for them to follow. I am hoping it is merely a folly of youth.
It’s not an economic issue, it’s not a passion issue, it’s not really much other than a values issue. Mesa and her family have great values, and work ethic and are just good human beings. Which has let her successes shine through.

Howard Hale with Sharon Camarillo.
Let's listen in.
I'm Howard Hale and thanks for joining me for today's edition of the Horseman's Corner
Only One Guest Today and let's get right into it.
Our guest on the program today is California Horsewoman and clinician Sharon Camarillo
Sharon, good to talk to you.
How are you today?
Howard, it's always an honor to be with you.
How many years have you been doing this show?
No, this program, I don't know about 25 years.
You lose track of time when you're having fun.
Well, that's amazing.
I mean, you're such a multifaceted host in the fact that you're a farmer.
Am I right?
You're a horseman in your own right.
That's correct.
My word, I don't know how you put it all together.
Maybe I don't have it together, but anyway, whether I have it together or not, we're doing
this interview.

Hello, it's time for another extended version of the Horseman's Corner.
Today it's an archived interview with the late Howard Hale and equine author Tom Moates.
You're going to enjoy this one. Let's listen in.
Good morning. Thanks for joining me for today's edition of the Horseman's Corner.
I'm Howard Hale, host of the program.
Guest on this segment of the show is equine author Tom Moates.
Let's get started with Tom.
Tom, what got you interested in horses in the first place?
Thanks for having me on the show, Howard.
I tell you, I got started late in life with horses out of my mid-thirties
and I had been married to my wife Carol for over a decade.
She had had horses earlier in her life and it was really something we hadn't discussed much.
Then one summer she saw this horse in a newspaper for sale and just out of the blue,
we went and looked at this horse and that horse came home.
The horse's name is Neegee and that story has sort of spurred on a series of books that I've done...
Listen in to get the rest of the story!

Southeast of Denver, out on the high prairie we sit at 5800 feet. The land is short grass prairie complemented with a very productive creek bottom. First and foremost, we are concerned about taking care of the our most precious resource which is the grass. We raise grass fed beef and lamb. Our cattle are a composite and the sheep are purebred dorper.
Each year we host a Buck Brannaman at the fairgounds in Kiowa. This clinic is suitable for all levels of riders and cover horsemanship and roping with an emphasis on the skills needed to make a bridle horse.
